Welcome! Thank you for your interest in the Transplant Surgery Fellowship at the Comprehensive Transplant Center at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. Our program, which graduated its first fellow in 1997, is accredited by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) and provides comprehensive training at one of the nation’s leading transplant programs.
The two-year program includes rotations at two Feinberg School of Medicine affiliated hospitals, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, which are among the largest transplant programs in the country with over 360 transplants in the most recent fiscal year. Upon completion of the fellowship, Northwestern transplant fellows have developed significant experience in many facets of abdominal organ transplant: living and deceased donor kidney transplants, pancreas transplants, laparoscopic donor nephrectomy, living and deceased donor liver transplants and organ procurement. Our fellows also participate in vascular access cases, hepatobiliary procedures and general surgery procedures in the transplant and dialysis patient populations.
In addition to this robust clinical experience, our fellows have the opportunity to participate in research projects with researchers in basic science, clinical trials, and outcomes and quality of life studies who are leaders in their respective fields. Our research collaborations bridge traditional academic boundaries, including faculty from multiple Feinberg departments, other schools within Northwestern University and outside academic institutions, creating an environment that promotes innovative science.
Our program is located in downtown Chicago, which allows our fellows to experience all that this great city has to offer from dining and entertainment to cultural activities.
We invite you to explore the opportunity to be part of our nationally reputed transplant program.
