PhD level graduate study is available as a specialization in Movement and Rehabilitation Science within the Northwestern University Interdepartmental Neuroscience (NUIN) umbrella program. The degree specialty comprises faculty and resources from several units including NUIN, the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences, the Department of Physiology, the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and other affiliated units across the Chicago and Evanston campuses of Northwestern University. The laboratories affiliated with MRS represent a broad array of research interests for fundamental and clinically applied experimental and modeling studies focused on movement and its rehabilitation.
Students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines including physical therapy, occupational therapy and other health professions, exercise science, biomechanics, engineering, and the basic sciences are invited to apply. The program focuses on research training, and content areas are created to match the interests of both the student and sponsoring faculty member. Prior research experience is highly valued in evaluating potential students.
