Dr. Michelle Kominiarek, MD MS is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Kominiarek’s research interests primarily relate to the study of pregnancy and pregnancy outcomes. This includes topics such as fetal growth abnormalities, labor abnormalities, postpartum hemorrhage as well as pregnancies complicated by diabetes, hypertension, thrombophilias, and prior bariatric surgery. Dr. Kominiarek is particularly interested in the study of nutrition and gestational weight gain during pregnancy especially in the context of pregnancies complicated by obesity. Examples of ongoing studies include the use of activity monitoring devices to monitor health behavior changes and gestational weight gain goals and adaptations to group prenatal care for obese women.
