Life as a Northwestern Resident
We all know that training to be a physician is no easy task. We also know that work is so much more enjoyable when you are surrounded by amazing colleagues. Here at Northwestern, we truly value our relationships with one another. Our residents make sure to prioritize social interactions both within and between residency classes when outside the work setting. It is considered a tradition for one resident from each class to organize a monthly event to bond over life as a resident. We also organize activities during each rotation block such as team dinners and group exercise classes. Birthdays, weddings, holidays, new babies, and housewarmings bring us together to celebrate the varied interests amongst our residents. There is literally never a dull moment. The relationships we make with our co-residents make us better obstetrician/gynecologists and are truly one of the greatest strengths of our program.
Life in Chicago
Our campus is located in the Streeterville neighborhood of Chicago, along the shore of beautiful Lake Michigan. Our neighborhood is full of new restaurants, grocery stores, shopping options, and apartment buildings appearing all the time. Take advantage of Chicago's beautiful LakeFront Trail located steps away from campus. The 18-mile-long path is the perfect outdoor location to run, walk, bicycle, or roller blade and features a wide variety of amenities such as beaches, gardens, playgrounds, soccer fields, volleyball nets and tennis courts.
Living in the City
Streeterville is only one neighborhood in this exciting city full of unique pockets that reflect the many cultures that live here. No matter your extracurricular interests – sports, art, music, theater, fitness, food – there are endless options.
