The Department of Neurological Surgery accepts all applicants regardless of citizenship. We participate in the National Resident Matching Program; applications must be submitted through the AAMC/ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). The deadline for submitting an application is November 30. Three positions are filled every year.
Information on the application process can be accessed via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
For all technical questions, contact ERAS.
Interviews, held between November and January, are extended following review of completed applications. For an application to be considered complete, the Dean’s letter along with three letters of recommendation must be on file by the program deadline. Although a sub-internship in neurosurgery at Northwestern is not a requirement, it is strongly encouraged for applicants who are interested in our program.
The screening process does not include or exclude applicants based upon gender, sexual orientation, age, race, religion, ethnicity, or other variables.
2017-2018 Residency Interview Dates:
Our interviews are on Fridays and start at 8am: November 10, December 1, and January 12.
Invited interviewees should plan to arrive the day before. A dinner with the current residents is planned for Thursday at 7pm the night prior to your interview. This is a wonderful opportunity to relax, mingle, and interact with our current residents. Additional information is provided at the time of the invitation to interview.
For questions regarding our residency program, please contact Isabel Garcia,
Residency Program Coordinator.
