I think the most exciting aspect of HPME is being part of an amazing group of students. Individually, we come to Northwestern with a fascinating diversity of backgrounds and experiences, yet together we share a common passion for medicine. The friendships I have developed in the program will last a lifetime.
Knowing that my path to a career in medicine is secure has given me the flexibility to explore academic and extracurricular interests I had not previously considered. Working with doctors and professors in both Evanston and downtown Chicago, I discovered my passion for biomedical research, a passion I have decided to develop by pursuing a joint MD/PhD degree through Northwestern’s Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP).
Thanks to the three-year undergraduate curriculum, I have been able to find the time to fulfill my dream of studying abroad. Deferring matriculation at Feinberg by one year, I will devote myself to laboratory work at an internationally recognized neuroscience lab in Paris, France.
HPME has provided me with opportunities few traditional undergraduate programs could equal. I couldn’t be happier with the experiences I have had so far and with the adventures that lie ahead.
