Instructional Design and Development

The Instructional Design & Development (ID&D) team is an interdisciplinary group of faculty and staff who are dedicated to the promotion, support, and advancement of multimedia-based instruction, blended and online learning, instructional technology, and curricular redesign. ID&D specializes in the creation of high-fidelity video, pedagogically sound interactive learning objects, and comprehensive integration into all facets of the Department of Medical Education, from simulation to research and faculty development.

Facilities include state-of-the-art video and multimedia production. Staff expertise includes design, production, post-production and distribution of educational content. Emphasizing agile development and user-centered design, the ID&D team has created interactive learning solutions for several departments and centers within the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, as well as external clients such as Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The work performed by the Instructional Design & Development team has been presented around the world, including at the Association for Medical Education in Europe, Asia Pacific Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare, Society in Europe for Simulation Applied to Medicine, and the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare.
