Cancer Biology

Cancer biology is a major area of study for students in the DGP. The Cancer Biology curriculum extends beyond departmental boundaries and across campuses, having been initiated as an interdepartmental training program in the 1980s. Students are active participants in journal clubs, research-in-progress meetings, mini-symposia and seminars sponsored by the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center. After developing a strong foundation in modern biology through the DGP core courses, students use the Cancer Biology curriculum to receive further training in the molecular and cellular basis of cancer.
