Welcome to the Center for Healthcare Studies (CHS) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. The purpose of the site is to provide information for potential research collaborators, students and fellows, faculty and funders about our programs, research activities and accomplishments.
CHS conducts cutting-edge research about the delivery, equity, safety and quality, efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare through interdisciplinary, multi-departmental collaborations of health services and outcomes researchers and clinicians, in order to inform and shape healthcare policy and to improve healthcare practices and the health of the nation. The extensive research expertise, skills, knowledge and activities of CHS’s faculty and staff are foundational for NU’s graduate education programs in the health sciences.
The Center focuses on a number of research priority areas that support our vision and mission and which include Healthcare Equity, Healthcare Quality and Safety Innovation, Health Economics, Maternal-Child Healthcare, Healthcare Policy and Implementation, and Chronic Disease Care and Outcomes, Surgical Outcomes and Quality Improvement, and Stroke Quality and Outcomes Research. The Center also provides a home for investigators conducting research under the broad health services and outcomes research umbrella of healthcare delivery, clinical, and translational outcomes, comparative effectiveness, and dissemination and implementation.
