The Department of Anesthesiology conducts several educational seminars each year to augment resident clinical and didactic teaching, including the crichothyrotomy practicum, a practice management seminar, and anesthesia machine workshop (pictured above).
The Department of Anesthesiology hosted its first Anesthesia Machine Workshop in 2007, which was created primarily by Associate Professor, Ling Qun Hu, MD. Numerous anesthesiology faculty teach at the workshop, and all anesthesiology residents attend the workshop at least once during their training.
The crichothyrotomy practicum combines cadaveric dissections in the gross anatomy lab at the medical school with didactics from faculty.
Previous graduates of the Northwestern training programs, current faculty, and Northwestern attorneys present lectures on malpractice, securities and investments, billing and insurance, contracts and financial management.
