The Feinberg School of Medicine Dean’s office is pleased to announce a program to assist departments in providing bridge funding support for ongoing research operations. The intent of this program is to provide interim support for research projects with NIH competing renewal applications that were positively reviewed but not funded.

Full-time tenure-track faculty in the Feinberg School of Medicine are eligible to apply. Up to $40,000 will be awarded to an investigator, on the condition that funding support is matched by his or her department.

Applications for the bridge funding should be submitted by department chairs on behalf of their faculty member. The following materials must be submitted electronically in a single PDF file to the FSM Office for Research at fsm-research@northwestern.edu.

1) NIH biosketch

2) Specific aims page from the reviewed but unfunded application

3) NIH Summary statement from the competing review

4) Letter of endorsement by department chair

All applications will be reviewed by a faculty committee to recommend funding priorities to the Dean’s office.
