She was a resident in medicine at Keio University Hospital, followed by interning in the Tochigi National Hospital. From 1992, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow in nephrology and then as a faculty member in the Dialysis Center of Keio University. She also served the local community as an internist in the Ise municipal hospital. In addition, while performing clinical service, she was involved in studies investigating cell physiology in hypertension and obesity/insulin resistance, and in a project investigating a role for estrogen in atherosclerosis. After serving as a faculty member at the Dialysis Center in Saitama Central Hospital, she joined an exchange program between Northwestern and Keio Universities in 1997, and started working with Dr Schnaper’s laboratory. She is currently research assistant professor of pediatrics, at the Feinberg School of Medicine. Her research goals are to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms of progressive kidney disease, with a focus on how various intracellular cell signals converge in renal cells. |
