Email: j-browne@northwestern.edu | James Browne received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry (2004) and post graduate masters degree in Toxicology (2005) from the University of Surrey (UK). He joined Dr Mark Dockrell’s laboratory at the South West Thames Institute for Renal Research (Surrey, UK), a group interested in the signaling pathways that mediate renal fibrosis. Here, James investigated the role of the ERK5 MAP kinase signaling pathway in renal epithelial cells, for which he received his PhD from the University of London. In August 2009, he joined Professor Schnaper’s group as a postdoctoral fellow to pursue his interest in the cellular and molecular mechanisms of progressive renal fibrosis. Jame’s research goals focus on the mechanisms by which the ERK MAP kinase and Smad3 pathways interact in TGF-β mediated extracellular matrix accumulation in renal cells.
