Financial Aid

Northwestern University's primary objective in providing financial assistance is to ensure that students with financial need will not be denied enrollment due to a lack of financial resources. It is the policy of the University, however, that the responsibility for meeting educational costs rests first with the student and his or her family. Financial aid is offered to students needing assistance beyond that which they and their families can provide. This policy is intended to ensure that each student leaves Northwestern with the lowest educational cost. Financial status has no bearing on the admissions process. The Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences is committed to making the cost of education manageable for students of all income levels. Many physical therapy students receive financial aid from a variety of sources, including government-funded loan programs, federally subsidized loans administered through the university and other university loan programs. In addition to loans, there are specific endowment, as well as need-base and merit scholarships available to qualified enrolled students who meet specific criteria. In addition, a number of private organizations offer grants, scholarships and loans. Information about financial aid, a list of resources, and instructions for processing applications will be sent in February of each year to accepted applicants and those placed on the alternate list.

The Office of Financial Aid on Northwestern University’s Chicago campus serves the educational financing needs of all students enrolled in the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences. Costs vary each year and specific information about the budget is provided with the distribution of financial aid information. Information about financial aid, a list of resources, and the instructions for processing applications will be distributed to accepted applicants and alternates as soon as the materials becomes available (usually in December or January).
