Clinical Specialty: Acute and chronic diseases of the kidney, acute and chronic dialysis, hypertension, and kidney transplantation.

Subspecialty: Metabolic bone disease, kidney stones, Fanconi syndrome, osteoporosis, parathyroid gland diseases, polycystic kidney disease, oxalosis, cystinosis.

Research Focus:

• We are interested in genetic and acquired bone diseases of infants, children, and adolescents, and the effects of bone-specific therapy for them.
• We are interested in the osteodystropy of chronic kidney disease, as a systemic disorder of bone and the vasculature.
• We are interested in kidney stone disease, including the primary hyperoxalurias, Dent's disease, and disorders of the extracellular calcium-sensing receptor.
• We serve as a resource for measurement of bone and mineral homeostatic factors and agents, such as FGF-23, OPG, RANKL, TGF-β, inflammatory cytokines, and others.
