Brooks, PhD Research Assistant Professor of Pediatrics Division of Kidney Diseases Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University e-brooks3@northwestern.edu | | | | Dr. Brooks has many research interests, including issues associated with chronic kidney disease. She is the principal and co-investigator on a number of clinical studies, including acute change in whole blood viscosity during hemodialysis and whether chronic differences exist in inflammation and oxidative stress in glomeropathy versus uropathy in different ethnic backgrounds. Dr. Brooks' other research interests are (1) cardiovascular risk in the pediatric CKD population, (2) peak bone mass development and associated factors such as calcium and vitamin D intake, eating disorders, and exercise; and (3) body composition. Dr. Brooks is also a member of the Children's Memorial Research Center IRB, a founding member of the National Cancer Institute (NIH) Pediatric Central IRB, and is a member of the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research. | | | | Texas Christian University (BSN), Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (MN), and Louisiana State University (PhD in physiology and nutrition).
