Division of Kidney Diseases

Welcome to the division of Kidney Diseases, which operates in collaboration with Children's Memorial Hospital in Lincoln Park, Chicago and Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine.  Our division includes clinical and research personnel who treat patients, train the physicians of tomorrow, and conduct cutting edge research.

The Division of Kidney Diseases at Children's consists of pediatric medicine subspecialists and scientists who provide comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for children with acute or chronic kidney problems, including dialysis, transplantation and disorders of bone and mineral metabolism.

As the only independent children's hospital in the nation's third largest city, Children's Memorial Hospital brings unparalleled training opportunities.  Children's Memorial Hospital is the pediatric affiliate of the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University, which is approaching the top twenty research-intensive universities of the US.

The program in Kidney Diseases at Northwestern University/Children's Memorial Hospital is one of the busiest in the nation, with over 3,000 outpatient visits per year, 20-25 kidney transplants per year, and an inpatient service that oversees both our own patients and a busy consultative service that supports the largest pediatric tertiary/quaternary services in the Midwest with all modalities of kidney replacement therapies.  We have a free-standing, independent, wholly pediatric dialysis unit in collaboration with DaVita, Inc as well.
