| |  | | | | | | | |  | Associate Professor of Medicine Dr. Avila is the Director of the Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Clinical Research Unit and the Director of the Allergy-Immunology Fellowship Program. He joined Northwestern in 2005. Previously he had trained in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and in Allergy-Immunology at University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Avila has been involved in clinical research of asthma, allergic diseases and immunodeficiencies since 1995. He has published over 100 presentations at scientific meetings, journal articles and book chapters.
| | | | |  | Clinical Research Nurse Ms. Quraishi is both a certified asthma educator (AE-C) and certified clinical research coordinator (CCRC). She joined Northwestern in 2006. She is dedicated to patient safety and education and is currently pursuing her graduate degree at Northwestern University Graduate School. For those patient’s interested in clinical research at the AAICRU, you will spend most of your time with Ms. Quraishi. She is trained and experienced in all clinical procedures related to clinical research in asthma and allergy and is always willing to answer any of your questions.
| | | | |  | Research Assistant Professor of Medicine Dr. Silvio Favoreto is a former Periodontist with a Masters in Public Health and a Doctorate in Immunology. From the beginning of his career Silvio studied the inflammatory process in mucosal tissue, such as periodontal disease, viral infections and Asthma. His Basic and Clinical science skills were developed over 6 years of post-doctoral training at University of California, San Francisco, prior to his arrival at Northwestern. At Northwestern University, Silvio works with a dedicated group of clinicians and basic researchers to provide insights into human airway diseases. | | | | |  | Senior Laboratory Technologist Junqing (Jenny) Shen was awarded her Bachelor in Medical Technology at the Shanghai Medical School, China. After many years of research experience at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio; Jenny joined the Division of Allergy and Immunology at Northwestern University as a Senior Technologist in 2005. She participates in ongoing projects in translational research in Asthma, inflammation and viral infection.
