| Jyothisri Kondapalli received her Ph.D from the University of Delhi, India. She did her postdoctoral work at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and Albert Einstein college of Medicine in New York. Her current project involves studying the role of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) in ischemia/reperfusion injury induced cell death in cardiomyocytes and heart slices. Mitochondrial DNA is known to be more sensitive to oxidative stress than the nuclear DNA. Mitochondrial DNA damage if it not repaired can promote mutations and cell death. She studies the relationship between damage/repair in mitochondrial DNA and cell death. |
