The mission of the Northwestern Center for Patient Safety (CPS) is to enhance patient safety by conducting innovative research and providing creative education through interdisciplinary collaboration with affiliated institutions. Pediatric Patient Safety
Pediatric patient safety has been an important focus of research and applied improvement projects conducted by Drs. Donna Woods and Jane Holl. Their work has advanced the understanding of the epidemiology of patient safety risk related to pediatrics, developed theory to facilitate effective intervention, and translated methods from other high reliability, life critical industries for risk assessment and safety improvement in medical care.
Geriatric Patient Safety
The Geriatric Patient Safety Initiative (GPS) at Northwestern is the first to formally dedicate physicians, researchers, and resources to improve the specifically target the safety of the senior patient. Northwestern University is the first institution with a dedicated geriatric patient safety headquarters. Working in conjunction with geriatricians and patient safety experts at Northwestern, we are leading the way in changing how clinicians improve care to seniors through clinical practices, research, and education.
