Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine will construct a new Biomedical Research Pavilion adjacent to the Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center. The new research pavilion will provide opportunities for teams of biomedical engineers, life scientists, materials scientists, chemists, nanotechnology experts, computational biologists, and neuroscientists from Northwestern University, the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, and Children's Memorial Hospital to collaborate side-by-side on research that will impact more than one disease. As our scientists cross traditional medical disciplines and work at the intersection of engineering, nanoscience, and genetics, they will cross-cut multiple diseases. These partnerships will maximize the potential for cures and new treatments for today's most serious medical problems. Contact Jeff Nearhoof by e-mail or phone at 312.503.3088 to discuss opportunities to support the new research pavilion. | Facts at a Glance Adjacent to the Robert H. Lurie Medical Center, sharing the ground floor spaces and amenities. 15 laboratory floors will add 125,000 net square feet of assignable space. 9 floors in the new building will connect to floors 3–11 in the Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center. 6 floors will rise above the existing complex. 5-6 principal investigators will lead teams on each laboratory floor. Research programs focusing on cancer, diabetes, and neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease; women's and men's health and fertility, including oncofertility studies; genetics of complex disease and the evolution of personalized medicine; cardiovascular medicine, including the use of regenerative approaches to repair damaged heart muscle; cancer biology; and reproductive endocrinology
