Global CommunitiesImproving human health on a global scale is a critical component to the mission of the medical school. The Center for Global Health coordinates Feinberg’s international programs. Students, trainees, and faculty extend care, education, and research through innovative global initiatives. Providing medical students with the skills and knowledge to address global health problems. Enhancing the ability of local care givers to address the needs of their patients. Pursuing collaborative research projects with local investigators to address issues of mutual interest. The Center for Global Health brings Northwestern to the world, the world to Northwestern. Funding for student and faculty travel, as well as direct service expenses, will galvanize our program to a higher level—not only providing a transforming educational experience for our students, but making a difference in the health and lives of underserved populations around the globe. In 2000, the Feinberg School had only one formal international affiliation; there are now 12 and several others in evolution. Through these affiliations, the medical school provides students with the opportunity to experience international medical education, systems, and cultures. Many of the following partners have bidirectional exchange relationships with the Feinberg School of Medicine, with international students applying for clinical rotations and research experience at the medical school each year.
