George C. Nisbet Foundation
Creating opportunities for prevention, awareness, and treatment of lung disease through coordinated fundraising

George C. Nisbet, Sr.

George C. Nisbet, Sr. was diagnosed with lung cancer on August 29, 2003.  Although Mr. Nisbet passed away only two and a half months later, he formed a strong bond with his physician, Dr. Jyoti D. Patel, who was then a new addition to the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Northwestern University.  To carry out his legacy, Mr. Nisbet asked his family to advance lung disease research at the Feinberg School of Medicine.

Today, the George C. Nisbet Foundation is comprised of George, Sr.’s loving family, who are dedicated to funding organizations involved with the detection, treatment, and eventual cure of lung diseases.  They strive to increase awareness for these diseases through fundraising activities, including the golf classics for which they have become known in recent years.  The George C. Nisbet Foundation’s recent gift of $20,000 supports the work of Dr. Jyoti Patel and her colleagues in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
