Biostatistician Borko D. Jovanovic, PhD, provides biostatistical support for the GCRC and is available for consultation at all stages of development of the study, including preparation of the protocol prior to submission to the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC). He is available to provide analysis of data from the study once it is available to the investigator. Dr. Jovanovic reviews all protocols submitted to the SAC. Dr. Jovanovic holds a BS degree in statistics, an MS degree in applied mathematics, and a PhD degree in biostatistics. In 1991 he received his PhD degree from the School of Public Health, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, focusing his dissertation on efficient variable selection in generalized linear models. Dr. Jovanovic has taught mathematics and statistics at Northeastern University in Boston (1980-1982), University of Massachusetts at Amherst (1982-1989), and University of Illinois at Chicago (1989-1999). Since 1985 he has worked in various capacities as a statistical consultant and served as a reviewer for medical and health science journals such as JAMA, and Statistics in Medicine and Biometrics. He is a member of the Biometric Society and the American Statistical Association (ASA). Dr. Jovanovic has research interests in categorical data analysis, clinical trials, rare events, meta-analysis, and statistical analysis of micro-array data in genetics. He divides his time equally between the GCRC, where he is a member of the SAC, and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he serves on the Clinical Protocol Scientific Review Monitoring Committee. He works closely with the Informatics Core Manager.
