What is the faculty hiring plan?
The faculty hiring plan (FHP) is a list of the faculty positions your department intends to conduct searches for in the upcoming fiscal year. It is prepared in the spring and is due at the time of the department's budget.
What types of faculty positions are included on the FHP?
Departments should only include full-time Investigator, Clinician-Educator, and Team Scientist faculty positions on the FHP. This includes academic full-time faculty who are paid 100% by an approved affiliate (e.g., Lurie Children's Hospital, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, Stroger, Jesse Brown VA Hospital).
The following types of appointments should not be included on the FHP: part-time faculty, non-tenure-eligible research faculty, health system clinicians, courtesy faculty appointments (e.g., coterminous faculty, visiting faculty, adjunct faculty).
How do I create my faculty hiring plan?
The faculty hiring plan is created using the business plan module of the faculty database. Only department administrators and their delegates have access to this system. To propose a position on the hiring plan, you must first prepare an individual business plan for it. You may create a new business plan from scratch or carry forward the business plan from an open, approved search for which you are currently recruiting. For each business plan, you must select whether to include it on or exclude it from the FHP for the coming fiscal year.
