Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center Dedicated

Robert H. Lurie Ribbon Medical Research Center Dedication
After the ribbon cutting, Ann Lurie (center) celebrates with (from left) Mayor Richard Daley, NU President Henry Bienen, and Feinberg School Dean Lewis Landsberg.
The Northwestern University Pep Band filled the chilly spring air with rousing tunes, then played to a crescendo and stopped, signaling that an important moment had arrived. At precisely 4 p.m., Northwestern University Trustee Ann Lurie snipped apart the four-foot-wide purple ribbon encircling the Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center of Northwestern University to cheers and applause from more than 400 guests. That began the festivities on April 21 to dedicate the opening of the first research building on the University's Chicago campus in more than 10 years. view full story>

Employee of the Year Finalists Go the Extra Mile

"All of us appreciate the service that has been recognized today," Northwestern University President Henry Bienen, PhD, emphasized to the large gathering of staff members in attendance at the 28th annual staff service recognition luncheon at the Drake Hotel on May 7.

Lynn Chouinard Rogers (left) and Laura Bleiler were selected finalists for Employee of the Year.

Among the staff members whose exceptional service received special recognition were two longtime Feinberg School employees who ranked as two of the three finalists for the Employee of the Year award on the Chicago Campus: Laura Bleiler, associate director, Office of Publications and Public Relations, and Lynn Chouinard Rogers, manager of admissions and student affairs, Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences. Nominated by colleagues for their job performance, professionalism, accomplishments, customer service, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities, Bleiler and Rogers both received engraved plaques, flowers, and $200 savings bonds. view full story>
