Appointments

Secondary Appointments for Research Faculty

An individual holding a primary research faculty appointment in one medical school department may be appointed in a second department if contributions to the activities of the second department satisfy a defined and substantial need. The chairs of both departments and the candidate must request the secondary appointment. Primary and secondary appointments are generally at the same rank. One exception is a secondary appointment for a research faculty member at the rank of “Lecturer”, if these faculty will have teaching responsibilities.  This secondary Lecturer appointment may be in the same department as the primary, or in another medical school department, center or institute.
