About the Faculty Affairs Office
Faculty Affairs coordinates the academic appointment process for approximately 3,700 regular faculty, 300 research faculty and more than 600 research staff. All phases of these appointments, from opening new positions via pre-search process and approving offer letters to candidates, to initial appointment, reappointment, change in appointment, leaves of absence, terminations, retirements and emeritus requests are managed by this office.
In addition, Faculty Affairs directs the recruitment of Department Chairs and Center/Institute Directors. We serve as the resource for academic appointment policies and procedures for chairs and administrators of the 28 departments and seven institutes and centers of the medical school, the faculty information and statistical source for many medical school administrative departments, and as liaison with the University Provost, Office of Research and Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, as well as outside organizations such as the American Association of Medical Colleges.
Two Feinberg organizations, the Women's Faculty Organization and Medical Faculty Council, as well as newly organized faculty development/mentoring programs, also fall under our jurisdiction. Faculty Affairs present several programs each year, including an annual Promotion and Tenure Panel early spring and New Faculty Orientation Program scheduled early fall
