Focus of Work

Bio

I am a cognitive neuroscientist who specializes in learning and memory.

Academic Focus

My research primarily focuses on the role of hippocampus in learning and memory. I am also interested in cortical-hippocampal interactions that support memory formation, modification, and retrieval. Current studies are investigating how memory guides exploration and learning by linking intracranial EEG recordings from the hippocampus of epilepsy patients to eye movements and memory. Current studies are investigating how memory guides exploration and learning by linking intracranial EEG recordings from the hippocampus of epilepsy patients to eye movements and memory. I also use a combination of non-invasive methods to study memory and relevant networks in healthy and memory-impaired individuals, including brain stimulation (TMS), fMRI, and EEG.[Shorten text]

Clinical Focus

I am interested in evaluating cognitive outcomes following treatment for refractory epilepsy. Two common treatments for drug-resistant epilepsy are resection and chronic deep-brain stimulation. I am investigating memory performance following each of these treatments to determine how each treatment affects hippocampal-dependent memory processing.
