Bio

Dr. Kaat received his Ph.D. in Psychology - Intellectual and Developmental Disorders and a secondary graduate concentration in quantitative psychology from the Ohio State University. After that, he joined the research faculty at FSM to develop and validate self- and parent-report measures and direct assessments.

Academic Focus

Dr. Kaat is a psychometrician trained in quantitative psychology and measure adaptation for special populations. His research focus has included measure adaptation using item response theory for individuals with intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder, validation of parent- or self-report measures in childhood chronic conditions, and validation of self-report outcome measures in adult orthopaedic patients.
