Dr. Massey’s research is focused on understanding mechanisms of prenatal addictive behavior change with the goal of preventing intergenerational transmission of risk through novel prenatal interventions. Within this context, she seeks to elucidate the role of biological substrates including oxytocinergic functioning in prenatal mood and behavior. Clinical interests include individualized treatment approaches for substance use disorders. Her treatment philosophy takes into account an individual's own strengths, personality, spiritual and cultural background, social environment, and motivation for change. Dr. Massey is board certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine.
