Dr. Zena Leah Harris serves as the Division Director of Critical Care Medicine, in the Department of Pediatrics at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She is also a Professor of Pediatrics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Harris has held various leadership roles within hospital organizations for over 20 years. She is also a Professor of Pediatrics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Harris has held various leadership roles within hospital organizations for over 20 years. During this span of time, Dr. Harris has educated healthcare providers on subjects such as innovation, safety, and quality of care. Dr. Harris approaches healthcare from a multidisciplinary perspective. She has served on committees of various disciplines such as health equity, child abuse pediatrics, and the redesign of medicine curriculum. Dr. Harris has lectured internationally and spoke to the importance of innovation, patient health outcomes, and women leaders in science and medicine. Her areas of research are broad, spanning from congenital heart disease to patient satisfaction. Dr. Harris’ work in regards to iron metabolism, neurology, familial dementia, and the effect of interferon therapy, have been published in numerous academic journals. She has also contributed her knowledge surrounding the biology of human ceruloplasmin, aceruloplasminemia, copper intake, nutrition and metabolism, gastrointestinal physiology, and post-operative management of children following transplantation, to other published bodies of work.
