Bio

Current research activities occur at the nexus of cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging and biomedical engineering. Specific research projects investigate the relationship between vascular and valvular morphologic anomalies and their impact on blood flow. These projects decompose flow and anatomy into a mathematical framework, allowing for parameters such as pressure, resistance, impedance, drag forces, and energy loss to be extracted. These parameters are traditional, well-known engineering...[Read full text]Current research activities occur at the nexus of cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging and biomedical engineering. Specific research projects investigate the relationship between vascular and valvular morphologic anomalies and their impact on blood flow. These projects decompose flow and anatomy into a mathematical framework, allowing for parameters such as pressure, resistance, impedance, drag forces, and energy loss to be extracted. These parameters are traditional, well-known engineering measures of system performance and ultimately powerful indicators of overall cardiovascular system health.[Shorten text]
