As a Pediatric Cardiology fellow at the University of Michigan, I completed advanced imaging training in complex transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and fetal Cardiology. My background also includes extensive expertise in cardiac critical care in addition to imaging. I have developed a role in education of medical students, as well as a strong role in outpatient care. As an integral team member of the echocardiography team, I interpret transthoracic echocardiograms, perform and interpret transesophageal echocardiograms in the operating room, and perform and interpret fetal echocardiograms. Additionally I provide counseling to parents of fetuses with congenital heart defects. I attend in a high volume general pediatric cardiology clinic, and supervise pediatric cardiology fellows in their continuity clinic. I provide attending service coverage for the Cardiology inpatient ward service on the Cardiac Care Unit at Lurie Children’s. I remain particularly interested in patients with single ventricle physiology. In terms of education, I have served as a moderator/tutor for the Northwestern Medical School Problem Based Learning course for several years, with recognition of teaching excellence by the students. My research interests currently include projects investigating the association between biochemical markers and post-Fontan cardiac index, as well as quality of life assessment in the pediatric cardiac population. I am also interested in research involving fetal cardiology patients and am involved in maintaining the fetal cardiac patient database.[Shorten text]
