| Wes Self Medical School: University of Virginia Undergrad: Davidson College 
| Wes brings an impressive background of talents, experiences, and awards to our new intern class. Wes was the 1997 Virginia High School Baseball Player of the Year. He went on to be the Captain of his Division 1 baseball team at Davidson College, during which time he was the National Collegiate Baseball Player of the Week and twice named an Academic All-American. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. At UVA, he earned the Dean’s Geographic Medicine Scholarship to study at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center in Tanzania and was elected to AOA. He has volunteered at the Berkeley Primary Access Clinic in Berkeley, California, as well as in the ED at Charlotte-Hungerford Hospital in Connecticut. He is an accomplished writer, having served as a newspaper journalist with “The Declaration” and “The Gazette” papers in Virginia. His research experience includes emergency medicine and cardiology research at UVA, as well as field research at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science. |
