| Ways to Give Cash/Check Simplicity makes gifts of cash or checks the most popular type of charitable gift. A gift of cash is considered made on the date it is hand-delivered or mailed, and it is deductible in the year in which it is given. Checks should be made payable to Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Please indicate "Department of Emergency Medicine" in the memo field. In Memory of or In Honor of gifts We welcome donations in memory or in honor of a loved one. Please include the name of the honoree and where you would like acknowledgement cards sent. You may send such contributions either singly or in a group. Each donor will receive an acknowledgement card, regardless of the amount given. You may also make a planned or deferred gift.
