David Salzman, MD

Dr. Salzman is a Clinical Instructor of Emergency Medicine, engaged in a medical education and simulation instructorship co-sponsored by the Department of Emergency Medicine and Center for Simulation Technology and Immersive Learning at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (UME '05) and completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at Northwestern (GME '09). His two-year program provides hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and researching simulation-based medical education while providing a solid foundation in theory through the course-work with a Master's of Education degree program.

Within the Department of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Salzman's role has been to work with the residency as well as clerkship program leadership in conjunction with the director of simulation - Dr. John Vozenilek, to design and implement a robust simulation curriculum utilizing the new simulation center which opened April 1, 2010. His academic and research efforts so far have centered on the use of simulation as an assessment tool for difficult conversations, the use of in-situ simulation to improve patient safety, and development of novel simulation scenarios.
