Spanish-English Intercambio Goals

- To provide participants a setting to gain confidence in foreign language speaking skills.
- To foster communication between medical students and NMH staff.
- To provide an intercultural opportunity for participants.
What last year's participants had to say...
"It's nice to practice speaking another language while getting to talk with somebody that has a different culture from my own."
"I like the exchange of ideas, cultures and languages."
"It's a great opportunity to force myself to speak Spanish on a regular basis and to stay fresh. I also really enjoy the hour a week I spend with my group, as they are both great people and we have a lot of fun."
"It forces me to use Spanish for an hour a week. Our employee/Spanish speaker is fluent in English and therefore very open to helping us with our Spanish. It's just a very enjoyable, laid back way to immerse in language. I also like that we can set our own schedule. I think it's an excellent program."
"I work for NMH and I feel so proud that NMH has this program. Intercambio shows support for the Latino culture and my language. I really like to share my language and my culture with the students."
