Recruitment
The OMCA attends several recruitment venues each year to promote Feinberg to underrepresented students.  If your student group is planning an event, feel free to contact us and we’ll see if we can fit it into our schedule.  Especially if you are in the Chicago area, we’d love to hear from you.

Ms. Gibson, the director of the office, has taught at several conferences around the country about various aspects of preparation for medical school including personal statements, secondary applications, interviewing skills, tips & advice, and more. She recently served on an experts panel about applying to medical school for the Association of American Medical College's (AAMC's) website for students of color interested in medicine: www.aspiringdocs.org.  She is happy to present to your student group if possible, so feel free to contact the office.

  Application Review & Advising

The journey to medicine can be difficult, but if it is your passion it will be worth it!  There are many decisions and critical elements of preparation that are important for long term success.  Premedical students should seek out advisors and supporters that will assist along the way.  We are happy to  review your AMCAS application for medical school - just call or e-mail the office.  It should be your absolute best work and showcase your strengths as well as unique aspects of your preparation and life experiences.

Check out the Admissions website for details on admissions the process, & requirements at Feinberg!

Interview Day

All applicants are invited to visit our office on interview day.  Stop by to talk to the staff about diversity at Feinberg during any break in your interview schedule.  We want to hear your ideas about community work and addressing health disparities, underrepresented groups in medicine, and social justice challenges.  Students are the driving force behind our programming, so we love hearing from you!

Second Look Weekend 2008back to top

We coordinate with the Office of Admission and provide some additional programming for Second Look Weekend specific to the needs and questions of underrepresented minority students.  The OMCA coordinated a student panel so accepted students could get a more in-depth view of student life and career opportunities at Feinberg.  We also had a great dinner at Blue47 Restaurant in Hyde Park.  We had 11 second look students and over 40 FSM students attend making for a superb Friday night!
