Each resident is receives a minimum of 2 hours of individual, on-site supervision at each clinical rotation during the first Post Transitional Year. To ease the transition into the first year, senior residents and faculty members conduct an orientation in January to introduce new residents to the details of the residency program. Topics include a review of the educational objectives of the program, clinical sites, and pertinent administrative procedures. Several other activities are planned to help residents begin their postgraduate education. The new residents' first eight calls are designated “teaching calls” in which a senior resident is “in-house” with the new first-year resident to provide immediate supervision and consultation. In addition, the First-Year Residents Group provides a venue to discuss issues pertinent to starting the residency that is led by the chief resident and meets weekly during the first six months of the inpatient rotations. | For more information about the adult psychiatry residency program contact: Joan Anzia, MD Director of Residency Training Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine 446 E.
