Department of Ophthalmology Mission

The mission of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology is to promote the ocular health of our patients, educate residents and fellows in diseases and surgery of the eye, and promote knowledge of treatment methods and causes of ocular disorders and diseases.

Our department has teaching staff members in all ophthalmic subspecialties who are continually broadening their skills to keep abreast of the newest technologies and treatments in this ever-changing and challenging field. Their expertise and dedication benefit patients, students, and the entire community. Our faculty members practice at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Children's Memorial Hospital and Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, all affiliates of the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. These hospitals provide great breadth and depth for our educational programs. We serve a large segment of the greater Chicagoland area, providing ambulatory and emergency room care and a wide array of surgical services. Our clinicians, researchers, and educators are available for consultation for a wide and highly specialized variety of ocular problems.
