The facility will charge technical service for full, detailed training
to users who need to use any major equipment the first time. Other
technical consultation and occasional services are free. However,
regular fee for tech service will be charged for any substantial time
(more than 30 minutes) spent by the facility staff members on the
experiment with the users.
It is important to note, starting April 2003, that we reserve the rights to charge the users who make less
than 24-hour cancellation for heavily used instruments
such as the two Zeiss LSM510 confocal microscopes. For example, if you sign up to use the instrument at 3pm, the latest
cancellation time is 2:59pm the day before. Users can avoid this charge,
however, if they
can find a substitute from any lab to use the scope for the reserved time. This
policy has been approved by the NU controller's office.
