While education is the defining mission of a medical school, Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine also is deeply committed to research, patient care, and community service. When faculty members strive for excellence and leadership in one mission, they often make significant contributions to another because in reality the school’s missions are inextricably intertwined. Take Note, the 2006–07 annual report, highlights a number of initiatives and individuals whose work cross mission areas, resulting in an even stronger Northwestern academic medical center.
