Dean’s Message
Across the country, the Feinberg School of Medicine’s reputation has dramatically risen due to the growth of our programs and facilities, the leadership of faculty members, the commitment of donors, and the interest of talented individuals in joining our ranks. Nationally, Northwestern is creating “a buzz.�
In recent years, the school and Northwestern University have invested more heavily in research programs and facilities. That’s because research is the most critical metric that differentiates great academic medical centers. However, this has not been at the expense of education and clinical services, mission areas in which Northwestern has historical strength.
Several planning initiatives are under way to strengthen our academic medical center. These include the “Great Academic Medical Center� planning process by the school, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation as well as the “One Northwestern� initiative that seeks to improve the University’s life sciences infrastructure and collaboration.
I am excited about leading the Feinberg School during this promising period—I urge all members of our community to take an active role in shaping this great institution.
