Resident Housing

The majority of residents live in neighborhoods within 3 miles of Northwestern Memorial Hospital along Lake Michigan. NMH is located in the Gold Coast/Streeterville neighborhood. Only a few residents live in the Chicago suburbs and commute to work. Click here to view a Map of neighborhoods near NMH. Many residents live in Streeterville, Gold Coast, River North, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Uptown, Andersonville, and Edgewater. Most residents rent, but some choose to purchase a condominium during their residency.
If you plan to drive your car to work and would like to be eligible for an NMH parking spot, you must live outside the downtown quadrant of Bellevue Avenue to the North, Wells Street to the West and Washington Street to the South.
Worcester House
Residents interested in living near the main hospital can rent apartments in the Worcester House. Apartments in this complex are typically less expensive than comparable apartments in the downtown area.The 18-story Worcester House, located at 244 East Pearson Street, features primarily studio apartments. Completely refurbished in 1983, Worcester House offers residents furnished apartments with security monitors and access to laundry facilities. Call 312 926-2334 for more information.
