Mask Fit Testing and VA Fingerprinting

All students entering into their M3 year in the fall of 2008 will need to get Mask Fit Tested and Fingerprinted for the VA Hospital before they start ICC in June.

Mask Fit Testing
The reason for this requirement is to ensure that when you wear a mask while on your clerkships that you are actually being protected against diseases such as TB. THe testing will take place at Corporate Health in Galter Pavilion 9-240, and will take approximately 30 minutes. The times that you can currently schedule to take the test are starting Tuesday, April 1 - Friday, April 11th (no testing on April 4th due to NBME exam). Everyday the first time slot is at 1 pm and the last one is at 3:30 pm. We Strongly encourage you to go in groups of 5. There is a sign up sheet in the Augusta Webster Office of Medical Education, Ward 1-003 at the front desk. Please sign up as soon as possible to schedule your time.

Some important regulations regarding the mask-fit test:
1. Do not eat, drink, chew gum, or smoke for at least 15 minutes before your testing as your taste buds must be alert to tell whether or not the mask is working.
2. Please Arrive on time!
3. Be sure to complete and bring the demo form and the OSHA form with you to Corporate Health.
