Student Senate & Student Organizations

Feinberg students participate in a wide variety of student organizations and activities on campus. Listed below are the current student organizations recognized by the Feinberg Student Senate.

AFYAC (Action for Youth Athletes in Chicago)
The mission of the AFYAC is to support Chicago Public School athletes' participation in sports by providing free pre-season physicals, education on sports injury prevention and nutrition, and mentorship, with the help of volunteer physicians.

American Medical Association (AMA)
With projects, programs and activities, the AMA-MSS pursues being the leading medical student organization for advancing issues of public wellness, community service, ethics, health policy both locally and on the national level.

American Medical Student Association
The Mission of AMSA is to help medical students at the Feinberg School of Medicine, improving health care and policy in Chicago as well as the United States, and giving medical students the resources necessary to make the most of their medical education and career as an MD.

American Medical Women's Association
The Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine’s AMWA chapter is an active group of men and women focusing on women's health issues and professional development. We achieve this by providing and developing leadership, advocacy, service, education, expertise, mentoring, and strategic alliances.

American Red Cross Club
The American Red Cross Club at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine consists of medical students who are committed to coordinating all the blood drives with the American Red Cross throughout the academic year as well as the summer months.

Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA)
APAMSA is a national organization that aims to address those issues important to Asian-American medical students. We strive to serve the student body in four different capacities: cultural, social, educational and philanthropy.

Business & Medicine Club
The mission of the Business and Medicine Club is to empower medical students to connect with the private sector and to explore alternative career options in practice management, health insurance, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology.

Camp Wildcat
Camp Wildcat works with Chicago Youth Programs to provide underprivileged, at-risk, inner-city Chicago children the opportunity to go camping for a weekend, and to present medical students as positive role models for these children.

Cardiology Clinic
The mission of the Cardiology Clinic is to serve the Chicagoland population with Cardiology care and give medical students the opportunity to learn more about Cardiology.

Catholic Medical Student Association (CMSA)
CMSA seeks to promote spiritual and moral values, foster the development of spiritual life and worship, offer opportunities for service to the greater community and provide a forum for medical students to congregate and share their experiences.

CHC Psychiatry
CHC Psychiatry is the psychiatry branch of the Community Health Clinics. We are the only free psychiatry clinic in Chicago and provide volunteering opportunities for medical students, residents, and psychiatry attendings.

Chiasma
Chiasma is Feinberg's literary and arts journal, aimed at providing a creative outlet for students, faculty, and staff alike.

Chicago Youth Programs
Chicago Youth Programs exists to improve the life opportunities and health of at-risk youth using a comprehensive approach aimed at developing their capabilities.

Chinatown Clinic
The Chinatown Clinic arranges for Feinberg students to volunteer at a weekly clinic in Cermak Chinatown that provides free primary medical care to the indigent public. Feinberg Medical students assist in obtaining medical history, vitals, and chief complaints.In the spring, the Chinatown Clinic organizes an annual health screening fair.

Christian Medical Association
CMA exists to motivate, educate and equip Christian physicians to glorify God by: living out the character of Christ in their homes, practices, communities and around the world; pursuing professional competence and Christ-like compassion in their daily work.

Community Health Clinic (CHC)
The Community Health Clinic at NUFSOM is a service organization dedicated to providing medical care to the patients of Community Health Clinic, a free outpatient medical clinic, while providing NUFSOM students an informal clinical learning environme

Dance Interest Group
The Dance Interest Group is an organization of medical students with interest in any dance form, including ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, modern, lyrical and ballroom. DIG serves as a resource to students with any level of dance experience.

Devon Clinic Association
The Devon Clinic Association is dedicated to providing quality health care and health education to the increasingly uninsured and underserved population of South Asians in our community via voluntering at the IAMA Charitable Free Clinic.

DOCappella
The goal of NUFSOM DOCappella is to provide Feinberg students who desire to sing with an opportunity to sing in a social setting. DOCappella hopes to provide those in the Feinberg community who appreciate music with an opportunity to enjoy musical entertainment.

Emergency Medicine Interest Group
EMIG aims to introduce medical students to the field of Emergency Medicine by creating opportunities for student-faculty mentorships, hosting monthly EM-related speakers, and holding several EM-related workshops throughout the academic year.

Enviromed
Enviromed is a student organization dedicated to raising awareness and developing service projects about environmental issues and their related health concerns. Major projects include the PBL recycling initiative, and battery and ink cartridge drives.

Family Medicine Interest Group
The mission of the NU FMIG is to expose medical students to the fulfilling careers and array of opportunities within the Department of Family Medicine. Resident-student shadowing opportunities, skills clinics, and speakers all provide exposure to Family Medicine.

Feinberg Cancer Society
The purpose of Feinberg Cancer Society is to promote student interest, education, and participation in the medical specialty field of oncology.

Feinberg Collegium for Neurological Surgery
Feinberg-CNS promotes student interest and education in the field of neurosurgery through exposure to faculty neurosurgeons and conferences held by the Department of Neurological Surgery. This exposure includes but is not limited to: speakers, surgical skills, etc.

Fusion
FUSION is Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine's annual multicultural talent show featuring song, dance, fashion and other acts from various ethnicities.

In Vivo
In Vivo is a student written and run comedy variety show put on in the winter to benefit local charities.

Internal Medicine Society
IMS serves the NUFSOM community by informing students about internal medicine as a medical specialty, and the opportunities to learn more through partnerships with NMH physicians; IMS organizes lunch talks, panel discussions, workshops and more.

Jewish Medical Student Organization
JMSO coordinates programs that focus on Jewish culture at Northwestern and in the greater Chicago area. Keep an eye out for discussions about medical ethics, celebrations for holidays such as Chanukah and Passover, Shabbat dinners, and trips to kosher restaurants.

Jugulars Juggling Club
Feinberg's official juggling club meets twice weekly to learn new tricks, relieve stress, and have fun! Additionally, we perform in shows at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Children's Memorial Hospital, In Vivo, and much more.

Latino Cultural Medical Association
The mission of LCMA is to create an open environment wherein all students and faculty members can share and discover Latino culture while promoting local and global Latino Health issues within the communities of Northwestern University and Chicago.

Loyal Davis Surgical Society
The Loyal Davis Surgical Society is a student group at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine that seeks to promote student interest and education in the field of surgery and provide an introduction to the various surgical specialties.

Medical Chinese Interest Group
The mission of the Medical Chinese Interest Group is to serve as a resource for Feinberg medical students to become proficient in medical Chinese basics, and to create better relationships with the Chinese community.

Medical Spanish Interest Group
The NUFSOM Medical Spanish Interest Group serves to educate the Feinberg student body on the Spanish language. Supplemental educational opportunities for the student body will be offered, including Spanish language practice sessions, opportunities to shadow spanish speaking residents and much more.

Musicians in Medicine
Musicians in Medicine gives medical students the opportunity to explore a common appreciation for music of all kinds and to share this music with Northwestern's patient population through free concerts and performances.

Northwestern Outdoor Adventure Club (NOAC)
The mission of NOAC is to expand our urban campus into America's wilderness.

NU AID
To provide free care to international populations, focus on preventative care and health education, provide a profound education experience for medical students, and to share our experiences to inspire others to pursue similar projects.

NU Child Psychiatry SIGN (NuSIGN)
The Northwestern Child Psychiatry Special Interest Group Network promotes student interest and education in the medical specialty field of child psychiatry through exposure to faculty child psychiatrists, and invitations to conferences held by the AACAP.

NUFSOM Alternative Spring Break Program
The Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Alternative Spring Break Program (NUFSOM Alternative Spring Break Program) is dedicated to the organization and implementation of community service trips to various underserved communities in the US.

OB/GYN Interest Group and Prenatal Program
The OB/GYN interest group strives to provide students with extensive exposure to the field of obstetrics and gynecology through a wide variety of shadowing opportunities, speakers, networking, and community service.

Ophthalmology Interest Group
The main purpose of this organization is to give students exposure to the field of Ophthalmology.

Orthopaedic Surgery Society
The Orthopaedic Surgery Society promotes awareness of and education in the field of orthopaedic surgery among Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine students.

Patient Perspectives
A student-operated program that attempts to help first year medical students preserve their idealism and humanism as they navigate the basic science years through non-technical conversations with hospitalized individuals.

Phi Rho Sigma
Phi Rho Sigma Medical Society is dedicated to the enhancement of medical education, service to humanity, and fellowship among its members.

Physicians for Human Rights
The Mission of Physicians for Human Rights is to advocate for human rights of all people by educating about and advocating for the halt of injustices here in the United States and around the world.

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Interest Group
The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Interest Group promotes student interest and education in the medical specialty field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Queers and Allies (Q&A)
The NUFSOM Queers & Allies (Q&A) promotes the acceptance of LGBT students, faculty, and staff through education and discussion of LGBT issues and rights. In addition to being an educational and social resource, Q&A promotes a safe space for the Feinberg LGBT community.

Radiology Society
The mission of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Radiology society is to educate students about the field of Radiology and to provide students access to research and shadowing opportunities within the Radiology department.

SAMSA (South Asian Medical Students Alliance)
SAMSA is dedicated to providing quality health care and health education to the increasingly underserved population of South Asians in our community.

SIGN
The mission of SIGN is to expose medical students to the rewarding careers and opportunities within the Department of Neurology, both adult and pediatric. Lunchtime speakers and mentorship dinners will make up the agenda for this year.

Student National Medical Association
Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is committed to supporting current and future underrepresented minority medical students, addressing the needs of underserved communities, and increasing the number of culturally competent physicians.

Students for Mental Health
SMH aims to provide various opportunities to explore mental health-related professions. We work to promote mental health as a fundamental part of overall health and an essential understanding of its principles for education in healthcare.

Wine Culture Club
The mission of this organization is to bring the culture and knowledge of drinking wine to the Feinberg community. All Federal, state, city, and university laws regarding the consumption and sale of alcohol are followed.
