Using Financial Aid to Cover Housing Costs

Expenses for room and board can be covered by student loan funds. Student loan funds are credited directly to the students tuition account; charges such as tuition and other fees are deducted as appropriate. The remaining balance if applicable is issued directly to the student in the form of a refund which can be used for items not typically charged to the student account such as books, supplies, personal expenses and room/board.

The maximum financial aid allowance for housing at FSM is $1200/month. Keep in mind it is not always necessary to borrow the maximum allowance. Some students find their expenses are less because of sharing costs with a roommate or perhaps living beyond Streeterville. Remember you will likely be paying interest on the money you borrow to cover these expenses so be sure to live within your means.
