That’s part of a quote from urban planner Daniel Burnham whose Chicago Plan in the early 1900s made way for the lakefront parks and playgrounds that make our city famous. It probably matches the excitement and vision you have for your professional future as your consider the Feinberg School for your medical education. Know that Chicago is one of the first things that Feinberg School students mention when they list the many positive attributes of the school. Their enthusiasm comes not only from the city’s unique mix of Midwestern friendliness and urban sophistication, but from the school’s location in one of the most upscale neighborhoods of the city, Streeterville. As one student put it, "It's nice to be surrounded by nice things."

Home to the Magnificent Mile, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and Navy Pier, the Streeterville neighborhood enjoys a mix of families, businesses and two world-class hospitals---Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the soon-to-be built Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Memorial Hospital ---both affiliates of the Feinberg School. Michigan Avenue offers shopping options that run the gamut from Gucci to Niketown. Streeterville residents have formed their own non-profit organization to ensure safety and a sense of community.

The area boasts the Ohio Street Beach, a cozy bit of sand and water with the backdrop of the city's skyline, but the Lake Michigan lakefront is expansive with an 18-mile lakefront path with several beaches, volleyball courts, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, and soccer fields. Like sports? Chicago hosts some of the best teams in the country---the Chicago Bears, White Sox, Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago Blackhawks. Stadiums are close by and accessible by public transportation.
